Same-Day and Last-Minute Movers in Columbus, GA

Need movers today? Call, don’t fill out a form.

Same-day moving comes down to one question: is there a crew and a truck open right now. No website can answer that. Call (833) 706-6683 and a real person checks the board while you are still on the line and tells you yes or no.

We would rather tell you no in thirty seconds than take your deposit and call you back at nine tonight to reschedule. That is the whole difference between a mover who books same-day work and one who advertises it.

What we can usually do today

  • Apartments and one-to-two bedroom homes, local
  • Labor only — loading or unloading a truck, POD or trailer you already have
  • Storage unit loads and unloads
  • Single heavy items: a safe, a hot tub, a piano, a sleeper sofa, an appliance
  • Unit turns and clean-outs for property managers
  • Getting a house emptied ahead of a closing or an inspection

What usually will not happen today

Being straight about this saves us both a wasted afternoon:

  • Large houses. A four-bedroom house needs a crew size we cannot usually free up on a few hours notice.
  • Long distance. Anything out of the region needs routing and a driver, so plan on the next available date instead.
  • Packing plus moving in the same day. If nothing is boxed, the packing is the job. We can often pack today and load tomorrow morning.
  • Saturdays and the end of the month. These are the busiest slots in the industry. Same-day on the 30th of the month is a long shot, and we will say so.

Why people call us the same day

Almost nobody plans a same-day move. The calls we get are:

  • A closing moved up, or the buyer wants possession sooner
  • A lease ended and the new tenant is arriving
  • A notice to vacate with a hard deadline
  • A storage unit that has to be emptied before the office closes
  • Another moving company no-showed or cancelled
  • A family emergency, a death in the family, or a hospital discharge that changes where someone lives
  • Water, fire or storm damage that means everything has to come out now — that is our disaster and emergency moving service, and it runs on its own track

What we need from you to move today

Have these ready when you call and we can give you a real answer in one conversation:

  • Both addresses, and whether either has stairs or a long walk to the truck
  • Bedroom count, or a rough list if it is a partial move
  • Anything unusually heavy: safes, gun safes, hot tubs, pianos, treadmills, large appliances
  • Whether elevators or loading docks need to be reserved — apartment and office buildings often require this and it is the single most common reason a same-day move falls apart
  • The actual deadline, and what happens if it is missed

What a same-day move costs

  • Two movers and a truck — $175 per hour
  • Labor only, two movers — $130 to $150 per hour

Larger crews are quoted on the call.

You get the number before we dispatch, not after the truck is loaded. If we get on site and there is materially more than we were told, we stop and get your sign-off on a new number before anything else goes on the truck. Nothing appears on the invoice that was not said out loud first.

Short notice does not mean we invent a surcharge. What it means is that your options are whatever is actually open, and the cheapest option today may be a smaller crew or labor-only rather than full service.

The faster, cheaper version: same-day labor

If you can get your hands on a truck — and on short notice a rental counter is often faster than a moving company — then labor-only is usually both quicker to schedule and cheaper. You rent the U-Haul or Penske, we bring the crew, and we are not competing for one of our trucks to come free. On a tight same-day deadline this is frequently the answer.

Where we can get to today

Same-day range realistically means close to home. Best odds in Columbus, Phenix City, Fort Moore, Midland, Fort Mitchell, Cataula, Ellerslie and Upatoi. Reasonable odds in Hamilton, Waverly Hall, Cusseta, Smiths Station, Opelika and Auburn. Further out — LaGrange, West Point, Valley, Pine Mountain — same-day is possible but call early in the day.

Common questions

How late can I call and still move today?

Mid-morning is the honest cutoff for a full move, because the crew has to finish what is already scheduled and still have daylight. For labor-only or a single item, early afternoon is often still workable. After that we are talking about first thing tomorrow, and we will tell you that rather than stringing you along.

Do you charge more for same-day?

Our rates are our rates. What changes on short notice is availability, not the price list.

Can you do tomorrow morning if today is full?

Usually yes, and next-day is far easier to staff than same-day. If today is not possible we will offer you the first real slot instead of a maybe.

What if I only need one thing moved?

That is some of our easiest same-day work. Safes, hot tubs, pianos, pool tables, treadmills and appliances are jobs we do constantly and they fit into a day far more easily than a whole household.

Can you store it if my new place is not ready?

Ask on the phone. We can often load today and deliver when you are ready, or work with a storage facility nearby.
